Getting ready for the holiday weekend

Just trying to get everything finished up before we head down to Macon. There will be a service for Uncle Bill Sunday; I'm glad we'll be there for that. Also excited to visit with Aunt Beth and see everyone.

Johnny has been doing really well in school. With the exception of a fingernail incident, we've been getting along superbly (as if there would be a question). But I will get him back for that, oh yes I will.

Today I worked with John, like physically, loading up the wheelbarrows work. I am so not used to that. The job looks really good though. After that and 4 miles in the hot afternoon, I am ready for bed, and it's not even 9. :p

I think that's all I got today- races were good, our car did really good. I accidentally saw hawtie cop while trying to avoid an annoying fan. Sweet!

New week, new start

So Johnny moved in with us this week - his first day at Noblesville was today. I think it went well. Fingers crossed that this works out for all of us. Candice has a cross country meet tomorrow - hopeful that she will do her best.

Aunt Beth is doing 1 step forward, 2 steps back. She's back in ICU. We're going down Labor Day weekend - John will be staying here since Johnny will be in school. We may have a memorial service for Uncle Bill. I just can't get his voice out of my head saying, "Aww, Horseshit!" of all things. haha

I started running again with Susan last week - that makes me happy. Shin is still tender and pf is still there, but I'm just running through it. I would love to have a run that is totally painfree.

Sunday we went to the State Fair with Mary, Jason and Lillian. It was so fun. John and Mary rode a puketastic ride with Dylan and I while Johnny, Candice and Jason looked on. Lilly slept through it all. Thankfully, no one yakked. I got to try chocolate covered bacon, which I think I can totally make better at home. Maybe Belle can come help me make it!

That seems to be about it this week. I'm pretty excited for the races this weekend - probably because we have nothing else going on! Finally a weekend to relax! Maybe I'll post a mini blog about that.

Have a good week!

Finally...

Yes, I realize it's few and far between with these posts, but I'm not running (shin splints and pf) and I can't write about racing (conflict of interest) so I kind of forget about it. I think it's funny the last time I wrote was about Belle and Eli coming over, and today, Belle came over and went hiking and made scotcheroos with me. Fun times!!

So, what's new? The kids start school tomorrow - Johnny is a freshman and Candice is a junior. Eeek!

Lillian Catherine was born June 19th - she's almost two months old now! Such a cute, non-crying little babeh. Seriously, I don't think I've ever heard her cry, not even during her baptism when they dipped the water on her head.

In terribly sad news, Aunt Beth and Uncle Bill were in a car accident last Friday. Uncle Bill didn't make it. Aunt Beth has been through a few surgeries and had a HALO installed. Recent updates have been better, and I think she is actually out of ICU now. Fingers crossed and good vibes and prayers for her and the girls. When Aunt Beth is feeling better, Uncle Bill's ashes will be flown back up to Indiana.

I think that is about it - I am sore all the time after soccer and I don't even know when I'll be able to start running again. Hopefully in a few weeks. I need to start marathon training in the fall if I'm going to do the Phoenix marathon. Can't wait for that!

Birds are chirping and the bees are buzzing. . .

Wait - why are there bees in my house? Yikes, close the doors. Anyway, it's nice that we're out of the forty days and forty night of rainfall. What was that? I made it to the nursery with a neighbor today and got some plants for our pots. I think I'll need some more though. They're just all so pretty. Maybe I'll post pics when I get them all potted. I would be doing this today, but Betty (my car) is boxed in, and I am physcially unable to move one employees car. Last time I tried, I couldn't get it back in park. All the neighbors laughed. Oh well. There is actually a place I could walk too, but I am not hauling 3-4 bags of potting soil back 2 miles home. (You all know there is going to be a future post about how I threw my back out lugging home bags of potting soil, right?) Whatevs.

Earlier this afternoon, Nic brought Belle and Eli over for a nature walk. We saw the river, got walking sticks and almost lost Nicole's flip flops. I think they need a stash of play clothes for Aunt Sara's house.

Off to go dig some holes!

So, here we go again

Several months later. Just gonna give my readers a brief rundown of what's goin down:

*It's a girl! Mary is having a baby girl at the end of June. Lillian Catherine. Aww.
*Hawaii was awesome. What else is there to say?
*My training partner had her baby. What a cute little guy! :x
*I PR'd! :D 1:50:03 in the half (soooooo close to the 1:40's!UGH!) But still, an 8:30 PR. Very stoked.
*Still debating on whether a fall marathon is in the cards, or wait til spring.
*Work is going good - staying busy despite the rough economy.
*Anderson Speedway - fun stuff going on. Lots of grudges beginning, children yelling obscenities, crazy fans (yes, we won) and lots of interesting goings-on.

Other than that, it's pretty normal here in Indiana. I promise to post more. hahahahahhahahaha Ok, I promise to try. ;)

Winter Running

I used to like running in the cold. I'm not sure what has changed this season, but it is not so fun anymore. Or maybe it's just colder than I'm used to. 35 degrees is alot warmer than 13, that's for sure. This week has been brutal - I've only run 3 times, about 20 miles or so. I'd like to get back out tomorrow for a few - we'll see.
Monday - 5 on the Monon with Susan. Pretty easy.
Wednesday - About 4.5 at Forest Park w/ Susan - we were going to do speedwork but had too much snow. We just ran hills instead.
Saturday - 11 - 2 mi warmup, 4 x 5 minutes tempo pace w/ 1 min rest in between, then 1 hour easy. I'm not really sure how fast the tempo sections were, bc 2 of them were into the wind, but the effort was there.

What else? Zumba starts next week, as does the new presidency, Mary finds out if I'm getting a niece or nephew in a few weeks, and the day after that, Hawaii! :):) Very exciting few weeks coming up.

1st New Year Post

Happy New Year, folks. Plus 1 week. And a day. Anyway, just wanted to pop in a give some updates. I have given up on keeping a running log. It really will just not happen. I've been running for 18+ years, so whatever. I did keep track by highlighting the workouts I did on my training plan last fall, so maybe baby steps. It's also really stupid bc I email with a group of runners, so I could just copy that somewhere. Oh well.

I did decide on a half marathon to train for. Sam Costa at the end of March over in Carmel. It's local, pretty low key from what a few friends have said, and I'm hoping for a PR. :) I also plan on going to the Indy mini and cheering on some friends. It'll be cool to be able to watch the superstar winners.

The New Year's Day race did, in fact, happen on New Years Day. And ohhhhh, it was cold. And there were portolets. Ick. (Really, I have no problem with portopotties, and these were fairly clean, so whatever. It's just the idea of them, I think.)It was fun though. It's always fun to cheer and boo for people, and tell them when their tires fall off. And the Swinfords will always put on a show. It's so funny. There are drivers who are fast, and there are drivers who just go out to get revenge. The Swinfords, though, they are both really good, fast drivers as well as vengeful. You just never know if they're going to win or just blatantly blast someone in the crossover. And I'm not talking dirty drivers who have fast cars, who will put you out to get around you. I'm talking, the Swinford's are either going to win the race, or they're going to demolish a car or 3, and you just never know which it's going to be. I realize this isn't admirable, but it sure is fun (if it isn't your car.) And it's really great when someone "Swinfords" them back, and they get all indignant and pissy. You reap what you sow guys. I love it, but you can't dish it out if you're not going to take it. Then again, when the Roses do it, it's sure not as fun. I guess it just comes down to who you like better (or dislike least). Dad had a decent race, not many cars making it out for the Street Stock competition. But that's good, because no drama in that race. (I like my drama in the races where my loved ones aren't racing. Of course. LOL) Anyway, this fan thought it was a great start to the season and I really really want to drive the figure 8 this year. We'll see.
